By Rail: The pilgrims can reach Kottayam, Chengannur and Punalur by Indian Railway, from there by bus to Pampa.
By Air: The pilgrims can reach Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Nedumbassery by Air and from there reach Pampa by bus/car.
By Road: The oldest and the traditional form of itinerary for the Sabarimala pilgrimage is to reach Erumely before proceeding to Pamba through the Mannarakulanji – Chalakkayam Road and trekking the forest road to reach the shrine. This route is a bit difficult and pilgrims who are not well should better avoid this route.
There are three routes to reach Sabarimala – the Erumeli route, the Vandiperiyar route and the Chalakayam route. By road, the two main routes to Sabarimala are Thiruvananthapuram – Kottarakara – Pathanamthitta – Pamba route and the Kottayam – Manimala route. The normal path of a Sabarimala pilgrim is to reach Erumeli before proceeding to Pampa through the Mannarakulanji – Chalakkayam Road. One of the easiest routes to reach Pampa is the Kottayam – Erumeli route and trekking the forest to reach the shrine.
Two Wheeler options : Two wheeler journey is a remarkable experience via raod, but make sure that your vehicle does not give you enough trouble. It may be difficult to find a good mechanic or a spare part shop enroute.
REMINDER : There is no fuel stations on Vadasserikkara-Pamba route. Fill your tanks and store enough quantities at Vadasserikkara. Though a fuel station is functioning at Pamba, availability of petrol and diesel cannot be ensured.
If your vehicle has any minor repairs kindly repair it before you enter the ghat section. You cannot find workshops at all places There are many workshops at Erumely, Pathanamthitta, Vadasserikkara, etc.
You must Keep important spare parts and tool kit with you. And don’t forget that extra tyre.

Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has started operating buses to Palani and Thenkashi from Pampa for the convenience of the Sabarimala pilgrims. Besides, the Govt. of Tamilnadu has been given the permission to operate 20 buses from different parts of Tamil Nadu to Pampa. A chain service exists between Pampa and Nilackal base camp.
