Mangala Devi Temple, an ages old beautiful old stone temple, 15 km away from Thekkady located at an altitude of 1337 m above the sea level, is dedicated to Goddess Mangala. The temple situated in Kerala – Tamilnadu border. The Temple Built in the old Pandian style of architecture, this ancient temple stands in the midst of thick forest of Periyar Wildlife Scantuary. The Temple will open for visitors only during the Chitra Pournami festival. Devotees from in and around Thekkady throng this place on the Chithra Pournami festival day which held once in a year during the month of May.
Special permission is required from the Chief Conservator of Forests, Vazhuthacaud, Thiruvananthapuram to pay a visit to the temple. Permission to visit the area can be obtained from the Wildlife Warden at Thekkady Phone : 322027. The temple can be reached only by means of jeeps from Kumily.
