Boating in the Periyar lake is an amazing experience, you can enjoy the lake, the weather and the birds resting on the naked tree trunks in the lake. The Forest Department Thekkady offers facilities for elephant rides, just 350 rupees per person for a 20 min saunter through the forest. Interrupted only by the twitter of birds, a cry in the wilds or the excitement of spotting closer acquaintance with wildlife from your window. Kumily just 4 Km away from Thekkady, is the business town and the entry point of Thekkady.
Climate : Thekkady enjoys a pleasant climate throughout the year. Summers could he hot and sultry with temperature climbing up to 31 degree Celsius.
Best Time To Visit : November to March is considered an ideal time to visit. If you plan your visit during summer season, your chances of spotting wildlife is much better. Monsoon season is the ideal time for ayurvedic treatment.
